The children in Chester Basin were very free to roam around the village and take advantage of the water because we could all go swimming every day. Most days in the summer, we swim when the tide was high in the morning. And again, when the tide was high in the evening. In the wintertime, we went skating and it was very safe in the sheltered basin. – Donna Gordon
