The Tale of a Town – Muskoka
Edge of the Woods Theatre is proud to present: The Tale of a Town – Muskoka
The Tale of a Town – Canada is a nationwide theatre and media initiative aiming to capture the collective community memory of Canada’s main streets, one story at a time. This cultural project has been touring the country, visiting small towns and big cities alike, collecting oral histories through interviews with independent business owners, local heroes, community stakeholders, and neighbourhood residents. After visiting every province and territory, the project turns its attention to Canada’s longest main street, Highway 11. Their next stop is Muskoka, with stops in Bracebridge, Burk’s Falls, Gravenhurst and Sundridge.
We are excited to share some of the stories we’ve gathered at Huntsville’s Nuit Blanche North on Saturday, July 29. The performance is FREE, and features clips from the interviews, live video performance, and music by local artist Sean Cotton. The show is about fifteen minutes long, with performances starting at the top of every hour, from 8PM to midnight.
WHEN: Saturday, July 29, 2017
WHERE: The Other Side Gallery, 58 Main St. E., Huntsville, ON.

In partnership with Edge of the Woods Theatre and with support from the Muskoka Community Foundation, The Tale of a Town brings their storymobile (mobile recording studio) to conduct interviews about our memories of Muskoka’s downtowns between June 2 and June 11, 2017.
Stories gathered during these interviews will inspire the creation of a performance installation that will incorporate audio, archives, music and soundscape at Huntsville’s Nuit Blanche North on July 29.
This initiative is made possible by local presenting partner Edge of the Woods Theatre, with support from the Province of Ontario through the Ontario150 program, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and the Ontario Arts Council, and the support of Community Fund for Canada’s 150th, a collaboration between the Muskoka Community Foundation, the Government of Canada, and extraordinary leaders from coast to coast to coast.
